If you can’t have a few rolls when you’re pregnant, when can you have them? It seems in recent years, maternity clothing has gotten more stylish, celebrity moms have been more bold about showing off their pregnant bellies and bodies. But, Spanx? The Today show has this story.
Don’t get me wrong, I have — and wear — Spanx with a clingy dress now and again. But I never would have even thought it necessary when pregnant. I was too busy eating ice cream (calcium for the baby, of course) while wearing an oversized sweat shirt and leggings. Stylishness — and smoothing out bumps and bulges — was the last thing on my mind.
These Mama Spanx are supposed to provide support (OK, this might be good) but also to eliminate panty lines and tone butts and thighs.
Which of you pregnant women out there are worried about who’s checking out your butt and thighs?
Do you think maternity is the next market for Spanx?

Maternity Spanx have been around forever. My guess is it’s more support than anything. I’ve got 3 weddings to go to this summer when I’ll be big as a house an I’ll be wearing them for support, not shaping.
I think the time to be concerned is AFTER pregnancy (obviously)..I LOVED the fact that I didn’t need to “suck in” when I was pregnant.
After the 6 week post-partum mark, most women are concerned about what their bodies look like when reconnecting with their partner. Check out “Shapewear for the Bedroom”, shapewear *hidden in* lingerie you wear *during* intimacy to flatten and hide your “mother’s apron”.
