I remember my mom belting us all when my brother was found out to be lying. My mother said, the consequence for any wrong doing was for everybody. I grew up with some scars emotionally. Never punish a child if it's not his wrongdoing. Corporal punishment is also inhumane. Communicate with your child; let him/her understand the consequences of a wrongdoing by telling stories that will be instilled on his mind.
