Breastfeeding by the Book: Do’s and Don’ts

Posted on 6:13 am by PreggNet Team

Every mom strives to give her baby the very best. Many of the future moms have some idea about breast feeding. Some of the dos and don’ts to be strictly adhered by the mothers during breast feeding are as follows,

Do’s:
The mother’s diet affects the new born baby in all ways. Hence, she should consume only fresh food which is void of preservatives and chemical agents.

Feed the baby as soon as he shows the obvious signs of hunger like shaking his head to and fro, mouthing his hands, crying etc.

Nurse the baby frequently for every two hours or less which helps to build up your milk supply.

Make your baby to latch properly so that he gets all the milk.

Don’ts:
Smoked food and spicy items in the mother’s diet will cause indigestion to the baby. So it should be avoided by the breast feeding mothers.

Don’t make the baby lie for a long time. Gently rouse him up by tickling.

Don’t switch to another breast when the milk in the first one is not complete. The milk that comes out first will be thin & watery and later on, it will be creamy which satisfies the baby’s hunger.

The mother should be patient during feeding because it takes time to get versed in it and properly feed the baby.
