Amber Portwood’s salary, a reality show teenage mom was revealed with many eyebrows raised. She is paid an annual salary of no less than $280,000. Many moms who have read this troubling news, thought this could bring young girls like Amber, who sets a bad example on them, to get pregnant as teenage moms for the money MTV is willing to pay her for playing herself, dealing with motherhood as a teenager with four other moms on the show Teen Mom.
Amber is a young mother to a 2 year old daughter Leah, who copes with having to raise her daughter on her own, with the help of her friends and family, watching her closely juggling school, a baby and switching boyfriends infront of the cameras.
In many ways, the show sends two messages to the viewers who are mostly teenage girls. One is don’t get pregnant when you are young, how hard it is to raise a baby when you are at school, showing all of the struggles these moms have to go through. The other message is, once her salary was revealed, is ‘look how much money I make regardless of the consequences’.
